'The Factory' es un ensayo sonoro resultado de las reflexiones, libres de la imagen y desde una perspectiva artística y experimental, de mi trabajo como responsable de montaje y diseño de sonido de un proyecto web documental dedicado al patrimonio industrial del Pincipado de Asturias (patrimoniuindustrial.com), trabajo realizado a lo largo del pasado 2019.

A través de mi participación en el pude registrar la idiosincrasia sonora de los principales enclaves industriales
asturianos, incluyendo factorías siderúrgicas, metalúrgicas, altos hornos, centrales hidroeléctricas, minas de oro
y carbón o plantas químicas, una extensa y variada paleta de registros que aplicaría a posteriori en el diseño sonoro de cada una de las piezas audiovisuales que forman parte de la web documental.

Los sonidos esforzados y los paisajes sonoros industriales asturianos son la materia prima sobre las que se sustenta este ensayo sonoro, el cual navega difuso entre la experimentación sonora, la música concreta o la fonografía, y teniendo como fin artístico el de proponer al oyente un viaje sonoro entre lo real y lo irreal, sometiendo para ello al sonido al mismo proceso de transformación que sufre cualquier materia prima dentro de un proceso industrial.

ENGLISH:

The Factory is a sound essay resulting from the reflections, free from the image and from an artistic and experimental perspective, of my work as the person in charge of editing and sound design of a documentary web project dedicated to the industrial heritage of the Principado de Asturias, in the north of Spain (patrimoniuindustrial.com), work carried out throughout the past 2019.

Through my participation in it I was able to record the sound idiosyncrasies of the main industrial sites including steel mills, metallurgical plants, blast furnaces, hydroelectric power stations, gold mines and coal or chemical plants, an extensive and varied palette of registers that would be applied in the sound design of each of the audiovisual pieces that form part of the documentary website.

The works sound and the Asturian industrial soundscapes are the raw material on which this sound essay is based, which navigates diffusely between sound experimentation, concrete music or phonography, having as an artistic aim to propose to the listener a sound journey between the real and the unreal, submitting the sound to the same transformation process that any raw material suffers within an industrial process.
